Happy (belated) Birthday! Cool gift!

It just so happened to be my son Colton's birthday that day too. He's 2; he got a new bike:

It was the highlight of his day. Now I have to show him how to use the peddles. He refuses to put his feet up. He wants to walk the bike around...which is cute but I think it'll get old quick; maybe not.

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

I agree, the 21st is a GREAT DAY!

I don't know if you get to see OCC (Orange County Choppers) over there? It shows on the Discovery Channel here, and Colton loves the motorcycles so much we couldn't resist getting him his own. You may not be able to tell from the picture, but the valve stem covers are red dice.

Tha monitor of your looks mighty nice too. What a space saver too. I have this huge 21 inch CRT that takes up my whole desk. Can you see how GREEN i am? wink

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

We have Discovery Channel in Sweden, but unfortunately my parents are too stupid to pay for extra channels ( cable or whatever ), they think that the 3 free non-box channels is fine. I don't.
Anyway, it's about time i get my own place.. And btw, they are shutting down all "normal" TV broadcasting soon, so my parents will have to get a digital box sooner or later.. hehe...

I got like a 21" or 22" CRT at home that I was supposed to fix when I got the time, the screen "jumps" up and down. It feels bad throwing away such a big screen, but I wont have time looking at it.

The development of BOS is getting slower and slower, I got massive hdd problems... Both my 80 & 60gb drives are malfunctioning, time to get a new 200-250gb.. smile

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

As I recall you're still in school, correct? I was working full time and taking four courses a semester last year and had very little time for OS programming. Add the HDD problems and I suspect the mere frustration could set you off. Hopefully a new hard drive will come your way soon.

Good luck on your impending move...

Wireless broadcasting will cease? Weird...I mean the digital age is quite the opposite. Since I am ignorant about Swedish Television; are they supported by government funding too or are they supported by commercial indorsement? When I lived in England back in 1987 - 1991, England was just getting satalite television and there were four basic channels, which you couldn't get all over the country. I think they were all government funded except for one. It was called, I think, Channel 4. I spent more time watching it than I did any other channel. Anyone here who has an antenna for television has a satelite dish. Most people have cable and I can't recall anyone with a regular television antenna. However that may change since most stations are broacasting in High Definition, which is free compared (minus the price of the HDTV set) to purchasing the cable or satelite versions.

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

You got me wrong, I'm not going to move yet, just that I _should_... :S

Short explaination: We have 2 channels ( channel 1&2 ) funded by the guverment and one commercial that you don't need anything else then a TV to watch ( channel 4 ).. Other commercial channels ( channel 3,5 etc) can be watched via cable or satellite etc. But soon you will have to own a digital box; the broadcast will still be wireless, but you'll need a digital decoder box or something. Not sure I understand it myself.

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

Here in Italy we have three types of TV:
A) plain old analog broadcast
B) Satellite digital
C) Terrestrial digital

the A is going to be removed soon.
the B has the best signal quality / more channels ( I receive something such as 500+ channels via satellite )
the C is going to be the national standard. Digital using the same antennas as for analogic. You need a decoder.
Almost all people here are going to change to C, but I already have satellite so I think that I'll stick with it. smile

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

<Jas2o is on the subject of channels>
Fre to air channels:
Channel 2 is called ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Channel 7 is called Seven (Prime)
Channel 9 is called Nine (Win)
channel 10 is called 10 (southern cross)
channel 28 is called SBS (Special Broadcasting Service)
channel 31 is called C31 ( Melbourne C13 ? )

Foxtel digital channels:
Channels are 101 to 999 (some are blanks, box office [movies], or games).
We have satellite (you can also get cable)

The old Foxtel (which we used to have) is disappearing.

We used to have an old one many years ago called GALAXY, one day it just stopped working, I think the company died sad

There is also a Foxtel IQ, which rewinds "live" telvision, records, pause "live" television, etc.

PS: My brother bought a flat panel monitor for work. He had it here for one day. Then he took it to work.

Re: Happy birthday.. :)

<Off Topic Two (or too) - television>

I spent a year in the Southern Penisula of Korea where they had several channels as well as satellite, back in 1997-1998. I didn't watch much television while I was there. This discussion is making me wish I know more about them though...
